Dinner OKA's at the Villa on the 22nd of August 2023

The second event at OKA's was indoors so no heat problem this time.  The theme of the event was Pinot Noir and although the average vote was slightly on the lower side ranging from a 13.78 to a 15.33, the individual votes showed a polarisation where some members gave very low votes, even 10s, while others gave the same wine 18 and even 19.  I think this reflects the taste of members who in their majority seem prefer medium to full bodied red wines rather than whites and light bodied wines.  The previous Qatra committee, as we do, noticed how when there is an all-white wine event (hint given by the type of glass they are asked to bring) the attendance tends to be quite low.  Back to the wines, personally I enjoyed all of them – they were my team’s choice so I am biased – and was pleased that they paired well with the food.  My favourite was however the Rose Champers.
