Dinner Xara Lodge on the 26th of September 2023

It was a good idea of Nick’s to offer wines from the same house for our September blind tasting session.  Dom Vacheron rarely disappointed me and it did not this time.

My joint favourites were the Belle Dame and the Les Romains to which I gave 18 points.  The Belle Dame Sancerre Rouge had great structure with a good balance of acidity and dark fruit and thanks to a bit of age quite mature tannins. 

The Les Romains had a much better nose than its more entry level sister, which got my lowest vote because of this, lots of rich white fruits.  On the palate it was really full bodied and heavy enough to match even the beef yet it had good citrus acidity and a salty minerality to balance the weight.
