Ladies night OKA'S at the Villa on the 23rd of July 2024

Our 2024 Ladies Night this year was held at OKA’s large outside terrace.  It was quite clear from the layout that Xara intended to do us proud by dedicating all the large OKA’s terrace for our needs with both an excellent fine dining setup of 6 beautifully set-up tables overlooking Balluta Bay and very professional and attentive service from the Maitre’d and his staff.  45 members and their wives/partners attended.

The four-course menu was certainly up to the expected Xara standard, and in particular, the cured bream starter and the Rossi prawn linguini intermediate were both excellent.  As for the main course, our only gripe, nitpicking really, was that the pork loin was crying out for more sauce.  The vast majority of the diners approached us at the end of the meal, expressing their enjoyment of the experience.  we had no negative feedback at all other than from one particular member, who has since resigned, and his wife.

The wines, chosen especially by the wine-tasting team leaders, were, again, in my opinion, and that of most members who spoke to committee members afterwards, certainly fit for purpose, and the consumption of over a bottle per person is a good indication that they were enjoyed.

At the end of the main course, while the dessert was being consumed, we held a charity auction of wines from the club stock as we did last year.  Please click the link below to see details of the auction.

This resulted in a charity fund of €705, which the Qatra committee rounded off to €800, and this will be donated to the charity nominated by the highest bidder, Jean Noel, that is, the Karl Vella Foundation.

This dinner ended with a serving of coffee and Petits Fours.
