Partners Night  on the 28th June 

The first ‘partners night’ organised by the new committee was held in the ballroom of the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard.  The original intention was to have our dinner and reception in the Salmon room of the Villa Corinthia itself but unfortunately the air conditioning system failed and we moved to the ballroom. Although there was a good attendance of 39, we were a bit overwhelmed by the large space.

As is normal for this event, there was no blind tasting However the wines were still chosen with the same care and attention, with the aim of finding interesting and less populist wines for us to enjoy with the food prepared for us by the Corinthia Chef and his brigade.

The evening went well, and everybody enjoyed themselves.  The food was well prepared although some of us would have preferred our veal with a little more sear and the service was rather slow. This was attributed to the apparent inexperience of some of the serving staff and the less-than-ideal number of them.

The wines were all found to be enjoyable and a good match with the food served.  Consumption was over a bottle a person which is somewhat above average for a couple’s event, indicating that the partners of Qatra members enjoy their wine just as much as the members themselves!
