Dinner Xara Lodge on the 26th April 2022

Dear friends,

Our April session was different in that we started off with a presentation of the new Qatra logo by its creator, Steve Cassar.  For those of you who could not be there please find attached a summary also prepared by Steve who we thank for this great gift to the club.

Speaking of gifts, this logo launch concluded with the distribution of personalised wine bag tags to each member – again, those of you who were not there will be given theirs at the next wine tasting dinner.  This tag should help us find our own bag from the pile at the end of an event.

Daniel and Garreth again did us proud with their choices this month.  Their selection of Mourvèdre as the featured grape left many scratching their heads.  I must say that I enjoyed all of them and they will all find a place in my cellar once I have created a bit more space through consumption.

My favourite was the Casa Cisca which was the third favourite of the evening as you can see in the report. It was totally new to me from an importer who started working with us with this session.  However, my votes were very close to each other and I felt that the food offered complemented the wines well.

I look forward to the next session in the capable hands of Nick.
